From: Matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 increase permeability of sheep pleura in vitro
Effect of 20 ng/ml MMP2 and MMP9 on the transmesothelial resistance (R TM ) of sheep pleura. A time-dependent decrease in transmesothelial resistance (RTM) of sheep pleura occurred after the addition of MMP2 or MMP9 at concentration 20 ng/ml. The time-dependent response occurred at both parietal and visceral pleura and on both the apical and basolateral side. Data are given as mean ± SD (n = 6). ns: non-significant, * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.001 and *** p < 0.0001 compared to control RTM (ANOVA test with Dunett post-test).
