From: Matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 increase permeability of sheep pleura in vitro
Dose-dependent decrease in transmesothelial resistance (R TM ) of sheep pleura after the addition of MMP2 or MMP9. Different concentrations (0.1, 1, 10 and 20 ng/ml) of MMP2 and MMP9 were added at parietal and visceral pleura and on the apical and basolateral side and the RTM was measured on the 40 min. The changes in RTM are expressed as percentage difference of the control value (100%), which is the RTM value just before the addition of MMP. Data are given as mean ± SD (n = 6). ns: non-significant, * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.001 and *** p < 0.0001 compared to control RTM (paired t-test).
