A force-concentration curve for GAS (Δ) and GLU (×) GLU was also used as a saline standard () in order to rule out the possibility of fatigue. The x-axis displays the increase of nifedipine concentration and the y-axis shows the relative force response of the muscles in % of the maximum initial value. Values are given as means ± SE (dashed lines for GAS). The significance of the decrement of contraction force in proportion to the cross-sectional area of the muscle is shown by levels (*, P < 0.05; ** P < 0.01, paired samples t-test) in GLU at nifedipine concentration of 5 μM onwards. N = 6 in each measurement.
