Casein decreases the longevity of sima loss of function mutants. Sima07607/07607 flies were raised under normoxic conditions. Newly emerged adults were shifted to chronic hypoxic conditions and maintained either on a pure 10% sucrose diet or a 10% sucrose diet supplemented with 1% casein and survivorship curves were determined. Sample sizes are indicated in parentheses. Survivorship curves were compared using the log-rank test. P was < 0.0001. Corresponding survivorship curves for w1118 flies are presented in Figure 1C.
