  1. Linear correlation coefficients between both gray-scale maps (r1), PCR1 and PCR2 (r2), and PR and PP (r3), are dependent on age. In most cases, the correlation between PR and LF (r4), PR and HF (r5), PR and BAL (r6), PP and LF (r7), and PP and HF (r8) is significant but very low, suggesting that phase and pattern recurrency is related to linear HRV parameters but contain also additional information, e.g. on cardiorespiratory coordination. Only PP and BAL (r9) are markedly anti-correlated, at least in 8 subjects (r9 < -0.76) which may also be due to a methodological link between both parameters (see Discussion).
